Army’s crackdown against United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is all set get more teeth.
According to information, newly appointed Army Chief Staff Deepak Kapoor will hinder down with Army’s top officials at the 4 Corps in Tezpur on October 16 to fine-tune a set of strategies to make the operation against ULFA more effective.
During the visit, Mr Kapoor will assess the over all law and order situation in the north eastern states in view of the stepped up militant activities in the region.
Allegations of Army harassment on common people may also come up in the close door meeting.
Mr Kapoor is further scheduled to leave for Arunachal Pradesh visit the border areas on October 17.

A senior ULFA cadre died while he was lynched by irate mob in Jorhat district on Monday.According to information, angry villagers captured hardcore ULFA cadre Manoranjan Pegu alias Mangal Singh and two of his accomplices while he was firing at the vice president of Golaghat Agricultural Marketing Board at Jaraguri under Dergaon police station.The villagers started lynching Manoranjan who died on the spot.
