Manipur polling ends with huge turn out

The first phase of assembly polls ended in Manipur with a massive 84 pet cent turn out on Saturday. The turn out figure is tentative which us expected to go up after the receipt of all informations from the remote areas.

Electorates in large numbers started making long queues in front of 1643 polling booths from 7 in the morning covering 38 assembly constituencies.

Initially, the voting started with a dull note but gradually serpentine queues were seen in front of the booths.

Economic blockade and territorial integrity are two prominent issues that would matter this time. Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, who is contesting again is expected to gain mileage from the growing fear over territorial integrity.
