Kamal Kumar Brahma Derhasad Bantha by ABSU

The Bodo medium was introduced on 18th May 1963 in Assam. It was in 1976 the Bodo medium Students were lucky to appear for the Secondary Examination. A good number of students have passed out since then. Many intellectuals and people working in different fields have also studied in Bodo medium. There are about 20 lakhs Bodo population in Assam of which 4 lakh are students in Bodo medium studying in lower primary, upper primary and high schools in Bodo medium. There are only 27 Bodo medium provincialised high schools in Assam which do have sufficient teachers and no infrastructure for the students. Some of these schools have no teachers who can teach science and mathematics.

Though the Right to education Act has been passed under article 46 where it is mentioned that the Scheduled tribes and Scheduled Castes people should get free education, the Government of Assam has ignored and neglected the Bodo medium education.

Congratulations to the achievers . To flourish any language it has to be baked by readable literature. If you have more books in different interesting subjects than automatically Bodo language will develop . It is very sad that Bodos do not have a good newspaper till date. Because the poor students living in the interiors of Bodoland, they can not afford to buy books, for them newspaper is the only source of gathering knowledge.
