North Eastern Citizen Rights and Duties Forum formed at Golaghat

A new socio-economical organization namely North Eastern Citizen Rights and Duties Forum (NECARD) has been formed at Golaghat on 26th May. Today, addressing a press meet here at Golaghat, NECARD’s President Mr. Mohan Lal Jalan briefed the media persons about the objectives behind establishment of NECARD. Their main objectives are to fight for protecting the fundamental rights of citizens provided by the constitution, to work for the all round development of the states of northeastern India, to fight against corruption and nepotism, to attract investment from NRIs and corporate houses, to boost the ideal of nationalism and to preserve the territorial integrity of the nation, to pay respect and homage to all those souls who lost their lives in the hands of terrorists or security forces during last 30 years and declare them as SHAHID etc. The newly formed organization demanded that a fly over should be constructed over the 21 kilo meter stretch of NH-37 which runs through the animal corridor of Kaziranga National Park to protect the animals from being run down by the passing vehicles on the highway. They also demands of declaring Golaghat as a tourist town as Golaghat has many potential tourist attraction apart from Kaziranga National Park. The DONER ministry had mentioned that 38 district headquarters of north eastern states to be connected by air and the NECARD wish that Golaghat should also be included in the list.
