Octogenarian couple donates life’s savings to Namghar

An octogenarian couple named Sri Ramakanta Kakoty and Smtii. Suprabha Kakoty hailing from Betioni village in Golaghat has set an example of charitableness which may inspire many. This couple saves every penny in their life to later donate to the local Namghar to built a gate. After savings for a life time the amount came to 4 lakh rupees and it was used in construction of the gate by the Namghar authority. It took one and a half year to complete the construction and it was inaugurated on May 23 by noted book publisher of Golaghat Mr. Khirod Goswami. Sri Ramakanta Kakoty had to be taken in a wheelchair to the site of inauguration and their he dedicated the gate in the memory of his late parents Hemkanta Kakoty and Padmeswari Kakoty. In today’s materialistic world when people are running a rate race for materialistic pursuit, Ramakanta Kakoty is an outstanding example of austerity and charitableness. He could have easily led a comfortable life but desisted from it in order to keep alive the memory of his parents in the sands of time.
