voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

SC asks for govt response on detention camp inmates

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Assam Government and Centre asking for an affidavit on a plea to release the detention camp inmates who have already spent 2 years. AIUDF MLA thrown to jail

Nagaon: A local court in  Nagaon has sent Aminul Islam to 14 days judicial custody on Tuesday after the police arrested the AIUDF MLA for spreading false rumour on quarantine. When the police produced the MLA from Dhing before the Chief Judicial Magistrate producing evidence against him, Islam had no  convincing statement to counter it and then he was thrown to the Nagaon Central Jail. Rumour charge: AIUDF MLA arrested

Nagaon: Police have arrested AIUDF MLA from Dhing Aminul Islam charging him with misleading the people in the time of COVID-19 outbreak. A team of police men on Monday afternoon picked up the senior AIUDF MLA to the office of superintendent where he was grilled for nearly 2 hours.  According to police sources,  Islam could be arrested as soon as they get green signal from the state assembly Speaker since he is a sitting MLA. ULFA(I) wants Bihu to be skipped

Fresh lease of life in NERAMAC

Guwahati: The North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd (NERAMAC) has inducted Manoj Kumar Das in its helms at a time when enterprising fraternity in the northeastern region are having a tough time. Das joined as managing director in the Central Public Sector Enterprise in addition to his current assignment in the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) as Deputy General Manager. Earlier Das served as the Director of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati for close to three and harf years and revived it with several innovative initiatives.  NERAMAC hopes same temperament in Das to be back on tracks.

COVID19 cases 20

Guwahati: The figure of COVID19 cases has reached 20 with 4 more people tested positive on Friday. According state health minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, of these three from Nalbari while the remaining one is from North Salmara. He said that all patients who have travel history to Nizamuddin in Delhi are now stable.  

Nizamuddin attendees from Assam found in UP

New Delhi: UP police have caught 13 people from Assam in Moradabab who were hiding at a local mosque. According to information, police tracked down  all these 13 people from Assam at a mosque in Barwalan area on Wednesday. According to SP in Moradabad Amit Kumar Anand,  they have been shifted to quarantine for treatment. COVID19 positive goes up to 16

Guwahati: More and more COVID 19 positive cases have been surfacing. Two more people have tested positive in Goal para with travel history to Delhi where they attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin. Before that health minister confirmed 14 cases in Karimganj,  Jagiroad and Nalbari with the same travel back ground. Alert ~ 3 more #COVID19 positive cases in Goalpara, Assam, taking the total to 16. Nizamuddin Impact: Four more test COVID19 positive

Guwahati: Four more people have tested COVID 19 positive at Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Wednesday taking figure of positive cases to 5. According to state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, GMCH laboratory has confirmed COVID19 positive in Jamaluddin Arshad Ali, Hazarat Ali, Nuruddin and Jonab Ali, who attended the religious function held at Nizamuddin in Delhi in mid March. Sarma said that all those who attended the congragation in the capital city have yet to arrive in thte state. Sivasagar: The Dibrugarh police again arrested Akhil Gogoi immediately after the peasant leader stepped out of the Sibsagar Central Jail on Wednesday.
