CMCS Fellowship for Early Career Film Makers
Films have been always a powerful tool for social change. It reflects the social issues in such a way that people could understand the reality. Instead of speaking to a large number of populations on any social awareness one can show them good quality produced and edited movies. Film making has been a good career for many people over the years. From commercial entertainment movies to documentary movies, all have played an important role in the society. To promote some new young filmmakers who are in the initial stage there are some support and fellowships by some organisation round the world. The Centre for Media and Cultural Studies Tata Institute of Social Sciences announces a fellowship for film-makers at an early stage of their career. The fellowship is designed to provide the resources and environment for films that are innovative, relevant and contribute to the growing body of documentary and short film work in India.
The fellowship consists of monetary support to some period of time and support in making movies on some selected issues. The fellowship is open to all Indian nationals. An early career filmmaker is defined as someone who has completed her/his media education not more than 5 years ago.
Short-listed candidates may have to come for an interview in April to TISS campus and travelling expenditure will be reimbursed for the short listed individuals. For further details interested may communicate with Centre for Media and Cultural Studies Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Last date for receipt of applications is March 31, 2011.
