Ramdev called to join hands in fight against corruption

A free yoga camp was held on February 21 at Chowkidinghee with a huge gathering in the early morning. Swami Ramdev addresses the gathering and said that in 64 years since Independence corrupt politicians have robbed the nation. He said in these long period since our Independence we are yet to have our own set of laws to deal with crime and corruption. Swamiji called for a jury-based justice delivery system, as is practiced in many countries. He also called upon all to join hands in the fight against corruption in a non-violent way.

The 5th Jeevan Kite & River Festival kicks off with the theme‎ "Brahmaputra Campaign‬"  from January 1, 2016.  This campaign is an effort to connect the urban generation with the river. The event will continue till January 7 at Rajaduwar Ghat, near Sukreswar Park, Guwahati. Kite flying, adventure sports, cultural shows are some attractions of the event.

Suicide note names Gohpur MLA

A suicide incident in Sonitpur district seems to have put a BJP MLA in dire trouble very soon. The incident took place on Tuesday morning when BJP worker Nomal Saikia was alleged to have committed suicide at his home in Bihpuria.

A suicide note recovered beside the body blamed the local MLA along with s senior woman worker of the party for his extreme step.

Local residents told Assam Times that during the last couple of years, Saikia was seen depressed who till the other days was working heart and soul for the ruling party.

BSF-BGB talk begins in Delhi

India and Bangladesh border guard authorities are meeting in New Delhi on Monday three days after both the countries implemented the land swap deal.

Led by Border Guards Bangladesh director general Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed, a team of 22-member official has been camping in the capital for the four day long talks which begins on Monday.

The ongoing implementation of the land swap deal is set to dominate the talks on Monday. BSF DG D K Pathak will take the lead for New Delhi in presence of home ministry, land survey and foreign ministry officials.
