CPIM general secretary Prakash Karat says that his party would raise the multi crore scam in NC Hills of Assam in parliament. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Monday, Karat said siphonning off money meant for poor people is a grave and an unpardonable crime and that the guilty persons deserve punishment. Karat along with top party leaders held a brainstorming meet to formulate strategy for the upcoming assembly polls in Assam.

There is no positive outcome in the district after scam issue and all the political leaders are busy in making an image for the upcoming election with the in the name of scam issue.
The district name should be totally named as DIMA HASAO in every article as suggested...as it is officially accepted in the gazzated offices in the state.

Three persons have been injured when they tried to prevent some miscreant from kidnapping a businessman in Barpeta in district on Thursday night.According to information, the incident took place at around 9 in the evening. Former Asam Assembly Speaker and AGP(P) leader Ganesh Kutum passed away on Wednesday night. he was 60. The end came at around 9-30 at the International Hospital in the city of Guwahati where he was admitted a few days back. he was suffering from kidney ailment. Before that he was undergoing treatment in New Delhi. Several parties, organisations and individuals have expressed deep shock at the untimely demise of Kutum. He was elected to the Assam legislative assembly twice from Gohpur seat and in 1996 he was elcted as the Assam Assembly Speaker. The Assam Rifles on Thursday has claimed that there are no ULFA camps in Myanmar. Addressing a pres conference in Shillong Director General Assam rifles Lt Gen K S Yadava said the army of the neighbouring country is acting against the Indian rebels using its territory adding that there is substantiate amount of cooperation between the two countries on this issue Lt Gen K S Yadava added that the rebels groups were to set up temporary shelters in the country and they have been coordinating with the Myanmarese army. He said the north east Indian rebels have set up camps in the dense forests along the border and that that’s why it’s quit difficult to flush these forces.

Several persons have been injured when police resorted to lathicharge on Thursday to disperse a group of people at Bandordewa along Assam-Arunachal border while they were blocking roads. According to information, more than five thousands of people from six minority organisations were blocking the roads alleging atrocity on minority people in the name of detecting and deportation of Bangladeshi immigrants in the area. Several vehicles have also been damaged in the incident.
Altogether 20 people have been injured, three of them critically, when suspected ULFA militants exploded a powerful bomb in Bijni in Chirang district of lower Assam. According to information, the blast took place in front of the office of the Bijni Circle officer at around 10-30 in the morning. The bomb was stripped at a bicycle which left off with a huge sound that jolted the town. Top ranked police officers have rushed to the spot and investigation is going on.
