The CNN-IBN has selected Assam's noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi as one of the top ten young leader of the country. This was confirmed by the KMSS leader on Friday in Guwahati. The country's premier satellite news channel has also selected 9 other top young leaders. Gogoi has been waging war against largescale corruptions that cripple the public life for the last several years. He has been leading the farmers' body (KMSS) who of late, dropped a bomb shell against Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma alleging his nexus with R H Khan where a huge amount of fund meant for Dima Hasao district was siphoned off.

Akhil Da, We want our own resources to be preserved for future generation of Assamese people, mere giving a compensation for our land ,water by the Indian companies will not serve our purpose. We want our right to natural resources we have like nagaland,Arunachal Pradesh where even Indian big shot ONGC dare to start exploration,no one can buy a piece of land in Arunachal even PM of India cannot. we want people stock option in the Indian company where our people lost their land,job in the hand of Indian company hiddenly funded by world bank, Asian development bank,IMF etc .Sorry to say even our Prime Minister Dr. MM singh Ji is a virtual clark of World bank.

HC asks CBI to probe PC Ram killing

The Gauhati High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe into the controversial killing of FCI officials Dr PC Ram. The FCI regional director, who was kidnapped by the ULFA, was killed in a mysterious condition in the night of July 11, 2007. NH-37 blockade in Doomdooma

Normal traffic flow is heavily disrupted on the National Highway 37 in Doomdoma area following the road blockade that began early in the morning on Friday led by the AASA leaders. Thousands of bus and cars are stranded on the road as the road has yet to be cleared. Top ranked police and para limitary troops have been rushed to the spot to contain the situation. According to information, the road blockade is being taken out in protest against the alleged physical assault on an AASA leader on Thursday by the security men of Durga Bhumij. Details are awaited.

ULFA blames govt for peace bid failure

ULFA has blamed it all on the government for a failed peace bid through negotiation. In its latest issue of the Freedom, the outlawed outfit has said that the conflict could have been resolved through a fruitful negotiation. According to ULFA, the government has failed to come out with the list of those captured during its Operation All Clear in Bhutan launched in 2003. This has showed the government's lack of intention to hold a meaningful talk to pave way for peace in the north eastern state. IT raids: Incriminating documents seized

The Income Tax department sleuths have recovered a huge number of incriminating documents during its raid conducted till Thursday midnight from house of lottery baron Alok Jain in the city. Raids also have been conducted at the houses of seven other people including , including Kailash Chader Pandya, Manoj Joger, Ashok Joger, Anup Jain and Chatsingh Gangwal. Beltola violent: SSP deposes before Manisena Panel

Some startling revelations have come up before the Justice Manisena Commission on Thursday while it was hearing the November 24 Beltola incident.
