The CNN-IBN has selected Assam's noted RTI activist Akhil Gogoi as one of the top ten young leader of the country. This was confirmed by the KMSS leader on Friday in Guwahati. The country's premier satellite news channel has also selected 9 other top young leaders. Gogoi has been waging war against largescale corruptions that cripple the public life for the last several years. He has been leading the farmers' body (KMSS) who of late, dropped a bomb shell against Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma alleging his nexus with R H Khan where a huge amount of fund meant for Dima Hasao district was siphoned off.

Akhil Da, We want our own resources to be preserved for future generation of Assamese people, mere giving a compensation for our land ,water by the Indian companies will not serve our purpose. We want our right to natural resources we have like nagaland,Arunachal Pradesh where even Indian big shot ONGC dare to start exploration,no one can buy a piece of land in Arunachal even PM of India cannot. we want people stock option in the Indian company where our people lost their land,job in the hand of Indian company hiddenly funded by world bank, Asian development bank,IMF etc .Sorry to say even our Prime Minister Dr. MM singh Ji is a virtual clark of World bank.

Irate villagers ransacked Bornadi WLS office. Another wild elephant dead in Udalguri district

Irate villagers of Dharmajuli village near Suklai ransacked the office of the Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary on September 4,causing damage to its property. Buljit Buragohain has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati for his thesis “Thermodynamic Optimization of Biomass Gasification”. Assam set to lose 60 acres of land to B’desh

Defying a simmering storm of protest Delhi is set to leave Bangladesh 60 acres of Adverse Possession Land in Dhubri and Karimganj districts in Assam. The formalities would be cleared on Tuesday when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be visiting Dhaka on Tuesday. Amid a string of protest Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi left for Dhaka on Monday to accompany prime minister Manmohan Singh who will be a two days visit to the neighbouring country. ULFA, Govt sign ceasefire pact

The United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA) struck a formal bilateral ceasefire pact with the Centre on Saturday to end the hostilities against each other. The pact was signed during a meeting with the top home ministry officials at North Block in Delhi in presence of Assam government officials. Pramod blames govt for unabated encroachment

Assam CPI leader Pramod Gogoi on Saturday said that 2 lakh acres of land belonging to the state is now under the adverse possession of Bangladesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland only because of Dispur’s failure to efficiently deal with these increasing encroachment. Addressing a press conference in Sivasagar on Saturday, Gogoi said Bangladesh has illegally possession of 499 acres of land while 1,62,471 acres of land is under illegal possession of Nagaland. ULFA’s grenade attack at Tihu police station

In a bid to make its presence felt, the United Liberation Front of Asom’s anti-talk faction made a grenade attack at the Tihu police station on Friday. The incident took place in the evening where is hardly any report of casualty. The insurgent outfit later owned up the responsibility after police arrested a youth in this connection.
