Assam girls won 3rd national Tchouk-ball championship
The Assam girls team won the 3rd National Tchouk-ball championship by defeating Maharastra while boys team lost to Kerela in the boys final.The national Tchouk-ball championship was played at Tangla HS School play ground from September 24 to 26.Fourteen states participated in the championship including girls contigents from eight states.The finals were played on September 26.
Results:Boys semifinal-Assam beat Andhra Pradesh by 7 points;Kerala beat UP by 20 points.Boys final:Kerela beat Assam by 12 points.Girls semi-final:Assam beat Andhra Pradesh by 3 points;Maharastra beat kerela by 17 points.Girls final;Assam beat Maharastra beat 33 points.Abhoy Robinson of Kerela and Sumitra Boro of Assam have been declared as the best players in boys and girls respectively.

Lakhi Ram Boro,vice president of Indian Tchouk-ball fedration told this correspondent that the game which had been introduced in India in 2008 had been gaining popularity in India day by day.He also said that both the Assam boys and girls team had been runners up in the last year's national game played in New Delhi.NK Pille,chairman of referee board of Indian Tchouk-ball Federation was in all praise for the boys and girls players of Assam.He said that Assam boys and girls would definitely dominate the game in the national level.
Santias Kunjur,EM,BTC distributed prizes to the winners at the end.Spectacular cultural programmes were also arranged on the occasion to much delight of the players and officials of the other states.Noted sports organizer of Assam, Kajal Das conducted the three day national meet which was witnessed by thousands of people each day.

The carcass of a twelve years old wild elephant (Makhna)found this morning on the bed of Samrang river near India-Bhutan international border.It has caused concern among nature loving people of the district.Eye witnesses said the elephant could have been poisoned somewhere else the previous night.Frequent deaths of wild elephants have now been a serious concern in the district.Udalguri District Journalists Union and Green Society,Udalguri expressed concern at the incident and request forest department to take appropriate action.

One Lawa Majhi (45) was killed by a loner wild elephant at Bormukali near Nonai forest range office in Udalguri district last night at 8 pm.The person was coming home from market while came on the way of two loners.So far 84 people have been killed by wild elephants during last five years in the district against the deaths of 34 wild elephants.
