The pilot project of NRC has started from at Barpeta revenue circle

The update of the pilot project for the National Register of Citizens, 1951 has started from June 7 at Barpeta revenue circle in Barpeta district, according to official sources. Mentionable that, in the year 2009, April 22, the tri-partite discussion of Central government, State government and AASU was held regarding the NRC updates and in that discussion it was assured that the government had surely started the NRC updates in two revenue circles namely , The Chaygaon revenue circle in Kamrup district and BArpeta revenue circle in Barpeta district of Assam. According to the provisions of sub-rule (3) of rule 4A of the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003, the Register General of Citizens Registration hereby notifies [File no-9/5/2009-CRD(MNIC)] that the enumeration in respect of the said two revenue circles of Barpeta and Chaygaon shall take place from the first day June, 2010 to 31st day of December, 2010. The official sources of Barpeta deputy commissioner's office informed that though the execution of the NRC updates notification had started from June 1/10, it is a matter of great regrett that Barpeta district administration has received the notification on June 3/10. And after getting the notification Barpeta district administration has conferred the charge of this act to Pradip Kr. Bhagawati, ADC, Barpeta as an observer. The NRC forms will be available at local gaon panchayats, municipality offices within a very short period.

This is a right step towards the years long enthusiasim for the original inhabitants of Assam under the sphere of the country's constitution. Everybody should extend helping hands above any political affiliations. There is some doubt in some section in the society. But it should be transparent. May god bless this endevour. Thank you

Barpeta Anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs

On the eve of 15 August, Barpeta anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs of Assam movement with the lightening of the lamp of 855 earthen lamps at Barpeta Panch-Ali Chowk on Sunday. Dead body of the servant recovered

A dead body of a girl servant namely Krishna Medhi was recovered in a pond at Gandhi Nagar area at Barpeta town on Sunday night. According to report, Krishna Medhi was the servant at one Dwijen Das residence, workers of LIC, Barpeta branch of Barpeta Gandhinagar. Mentionable that the dead Krishna Medhi had been worked as a servant somany years at the house of Dwijen Das. The local people of the area found her dead and rushed to the sadar police station of Barpeta. The local people and Krishna’s family members wanted to say it as a murder. The police caught Dwijen das, for interrogation. But there was no case filed till filing this report.

4 killed in Barpeta police firing

Four people died and over 50 others have been injured when police opened fire on a group of student protesters trying to stall government proceedings of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Barpeta on Wednesday.
