Former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam says Assam has every potential for inclusive growth. Addressing a fair organised by , Science and Technology Council at Baihata in the outskirt of Guwahati on Saturday morning, he said with over 26,000 villages and rich natural resources, minerals, forests, water and fertile land Assam can tap its potential for growth.
He said the Providing Urban Facilities in Rural Areas Mission initiated by the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation and One World South Asia in collaboration with Microsoft, plans to create a network of information kiosks in 600,000 villages in India.
He further said the Mission should focus focus on increasing agricultural productivity and value addition to agro-products and nurturing and promoting horticulture, Kalam said at a mela organised by the Assam.
According to him, the objective of the mission was to transform India into a developed nation and that over the last few decades, the country achieved success in many areas. Later Dr Kalam interacted with the students at a function in Dimoria College before wrapping up his two day visit.
