Forest Minister inaugurated 8th Elephant Festival
Forest Minister Md. R. Hussain today inaugurated the 8th Kaziranga Elephant festival auridst a huge gathering in Mihiremukh festival ground. He hoped, he festival would surely helped decrease man and elephant conflict and more love will grow for the proction of KNP. He called upon the people to say KNP as their life. Prithwibi Maji, the Minister also attended the programme .The programme was followed by cultural functions. Earlier in the morning hours, a colourful procession of harmony was organised where 49 elephants led by Rammraj was taken out and it was inaugurated by the Md R. Hussain, the Minister. A souvenior “ Oirawat “ published on the occasion was also released. A fair of the SHGs has also in the festival ground.

According to delayed report poachers killed a stray rhino in Lohre Chapori of the Brahmaputra on the night of January 28 and took away the horn. In the year 2009 the park lost 67 rhinos in the natural death, 14 by poachers. It lost also 8 Royal Bengal tiger in the Park in the last year.

Tulshi Bardolo, of Marangi of Panikara Gaon, Golaghat, breathed his last in the night of January 6th at his was residence due to old age. He was 87. He left behind wife Putu Bardoloi, four sons and three daughters,who loved him very much and we all hope the best for them.
He started his career as a senior basic school teacher and retired as Head Master of Marangi High School of Marangi, He was'nt considered just a teacher,He was also a sincere social worker and pious person as well a good agriculturist.
