New executive committee at Bokakhat Press Club

Thaneswer Hazarika, Bokakhat correspondent of the sentinel has been selected chairmen of Bokakhat Press Club for 2010-2012, for two years while Mr. Achyut Hazarika, Mr. Gopicananda Saikia vice chairmen, Uttam Saikia secy, Koilash Patowari, Dhananjoy Mishra Assist Secretery, Shrawan Goenkar internal auditor in a meeting held on March 9 in the press club office.


The club held also its foundation day on March 10, with day long programme which include flag hoisting, smitri tarpan and public meeting. The open meeting was presided over by Dr. Babulal More, the outgoing president of the club. BN Bhuyan, chief advisor of Assam Village Defence Organization inaugurates the meeting and called upon to the journalist to highlight hidden problems of the common people for their welfare. Bhabesh Saikia , Thaneswar Hazarika, two senior journalist of the club and Md Rofikul Hussain, Poet and drama director, producer were also felicitated in the meeting with phulam gamocha, xarai and plaque. Jiten Sarmah Rajkhuwa, editor the Raigor khobor attended the meeting as chief guest and highlighted the various problem of the journalist and he requested full co- operation of the public. Nabin Kattaky, Md. Anisor Rahman, Dr. Budeswar Gogoi, Soneswar Narah from the public spoke on the occasion assuring required support to the journalist.


The public meeting took resolution to press the Government to appoint SDPRO for Bokakhat, to take tight measures for the protection of KNP animals, for safety of life of the journalist, to include Rongamati Mouga to Bokakhat sub division, to upgrade 37NH in Bokakhat area, for financial assistance to Bokakhat Press Club, to protect life and property of the people from the attack of the wild elephants etc.
