A poem on Bhupen Hazarika appreciated by advocates of Guwahati HC

A poem on Dr.Bhupen Hazarika’s life and philosophy, written by Sukleswar Deka, a retired teacher of a rural school, Kalaigaon Higher Secondary School was inaugurated at a function at Guwahati High Court recently on the occasion of Dr.Hazarika’s 84th birthday on September 8 at the premises of Guwahati High Court.The programme was organized by ‘Lawers Adventure Club’ of Guwahati High Court to celebrate the 84th birth day of the legendary singer of India. A.K. Phukan, the Hon’ble Advocate General of Assam inaugurated the ceremony, where 500 colorful printed copies of the poem along with birth day greeting text to Bhupen Hazarika by the members of the club were distributed among the advocates and other dignitaries of the Guwahati High Court. Moreover a copy of the poem was sent to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika who is now in Mumbai.The poem was also telecast by NE TV (Hi-Fi)in a special programme to mark the occasion of Dr. Hazarika’s birth day.


It can be added that the poem which is a very long one had previously been recited by the poet himself at Bishnu Rabha Divasas held at Kalaigaon under the auspices of Asom Sahitya Sabha and was highly appreciated by the literary people like Dr.Rongbong Terang, President , Dr.Paramananda Rajbangshi, Secretary, Asom Sahitya Sabha; noted film actor Nipon Goswami and noted littérateur Dr. Rita Choudhury.

In a tragic accident four persons namely -Siddique Ali (23) of Kalaigaon; Bijoy Rajbongshi (35), Hari Rajbongshi (30) and Gauranga Mondol (43) of Dimakuchi under Dimakuchi police station died in a tragic mishap to day at around 3.30 PM.
