While Sony Pix is celebrating the pleasant autumn warmth with August Rush, Bangalore’s premiere music institute “Eastern Fare Music Foundation” ornamented the season with an enchanting musical offering of its own on 14th August, 09. The concert “Euphony, An autumn serenade” in collaboration with Furtados Music (India) Pvt. Ltd. marked the completion of 6 successful months of the Koramangala branch of Eastern Fare Music Institute and truly lived up to its name, with students and teachers exhibiting amazing musical ability.
It was indeed inspiring to see the performers’ ages range from tots to teenaged heavy metal rockers to 50+ retro music lovers. While the youngest artist for the evening was 4 year old giving a piano recital the eldest entertainer played some popular retro numbers from Eagles, Eric Clapton and CCR.
The event was also graced by the presence of celebrated Carnatic Vocalist and Television personality Suchetan Rangaswamy who simply mesmerized the audience by rendering vocals to a song composed by Assamese Musician, Jim Ankan (owner/director of the institute) from their upcoming fusion album Veenar.
Eastern Fare Music Foundation is the first ever full-fledged music institute to be established by an Assamese in the hustling city of Bangalore. An initiative of noted Assamese music composer, Jim Ankan Deka, the institute accommodates nearly 500 hundred music aspirants from countries like Germany and China besides India. Under the able mentoring of some proficient instructors the students can learn various instruments including Guitar, Piano, Tabla, Drums, Violin, and Flute etc. The institute also encompasses musical genres like Indian and Western Classical and is now delving into Carnatic Music as well.

Young musician taking Assam to places. I have seen Assamese musicians making albums and singing songs for hindi films.. but what you are doing is unique. You initiative and approcah deserves accolades. Really proud of you Mr. Deka. and team. Keep up the good work.

Cool ASSAM has alwayz produced many talents, this is an example & i beleive NORTH-EAST produces the best Rock Music in entire INDIA, so East or West North-East is the BEST.

Tribal villagers carry a malaria patient to the hospital in a remote village of Bilaihum, about 75 kms west of Agartala, Tripura on 03-05-08. Official said that at least 18 personnel died due to malaria throughout the state in last 15 days. Only last week the Italian ambassador to India has visited the state and declared to fund projects of International Federation of Red Cross in Tripura to irradiate the dreadful malaria disease that claims hundred of lives every year in spite of several precautionary measures. Mired in a controversy, the Assam govt has decided it will ask CBI to probe the rhino poachings in Assam. According to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, following an aroused demand, the government has decided to order a CBI probe into the killing of at least 27 rhinos in the Kaziranga National Park and the Rajiv Gandhi wildlife sanctuary in Orang since last December.The government earlier ordered the transfer of Kaziranga Divisional Forest Officer Bankim Sharma and formed a nine-member committee to ascertain the reasons behind it.Meanwhile, the panel has already started investigation and have visited the three rhino bearing areas of the state, Kaziranga, Orang and Pabitora game sanctuary.It may...
The United Liberation Front of Asom has charged a section of people with trying to buy good names with the ongoing peace process. In its latest edition of Freedom, ULFA has said only a political solution could help Assam restore permanent peace on its soil. The outfit has welcomed Dr Indira Goswami for her untiring bid to ensure peace process and criticized the government saying the government’s talks with the PCG failed only because of the lack of goodwill from the part of the government. A country wide down to dusk strike sponsored by the Opposition National Democratic Alliance has paralyzed normal life from early in the morning on Friday. In a powerful bomb blast one 5 year old child Alima Khatun (age 5) was died on the spot at Koilagaon under Bijni Amguri in Chirang District at around 12:20 PM on 29-04-08. Alima was playing along with the other children in front a house after they arrived from their schools while that tragic incident took place. In this incident three minor childrens Kismat Ali (7), Chandrabhan (10) and Rashid Ali (12) has been injured seriously.
