AASU against Mahanta's homecoming

After Congress, now its All Assam Students Union (AASU) to hit a major roadblock for former Chief Minister and AGP's founder president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta's homecoming.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, AASU leaders say the student body will oppose tooth and nail any bid to bring Mr Mahanta back to AGP in the name of unification of regional parties.

According to AASU adviser Dr Samujal Bhattacharjee, Mr Mahanta has betrayed Assam and its people with misdeeds during his two terms as Chief Minister. "Unification of regional parties sans Mahanta is only what we expect. If the bid to bring Mahanta back continues we will not sit idle," he said.

Dr Bhttacharjee further slamed AGP's sitting Brindabon Goswami saying him an absolute inefficient to lead the regional party. "His inefficiency has already proved," he said adding that regionalism with a Mahanta like btrayer and an inefficient leader like Brindabon Goswami will not be able to deliver the goods.
