All Assam Karmachari Parishad protest against the enhancement of the Bhaskar Barua-led Assam Salary Commission for the second time. Protesting against the failure of the Commission and for the demand of the submission of the enhancement of the salary package of the state government employees in teh lines of central govt employees from the year 2006, All Assam Karmachari Parishad held a huge gathering at Barpeta Madhab Choudhury College premises on July 14. Addressing in this meeting Basab Kalita, Secy, All Assam Karmachari Parishad said that it was a unfortunate matter that not only the salary commission but not even a single commission of state government could not be able to submit their report in proper time. He added that despite the last few years cooperation of All Assam Karmachari Parishad by increasing work culture and also endeavourance of solving various problems, the state government increasing the time of the salary commission which actually depressed the state government workers.

21st July, 2010 - a memorable day for the Barpeta. Barpeta Mayhem has completed one year. On that very day Barpeta District AAMSU protest demanding the correct NRC up gradation and to stop the Pilot project. Last year about 150 people were injured in police lathi charge. Mentionable that in the name of that protest march of AAMSU a group of people had destroyed the properities of some business centres as well as the hoardings of the DC office, burnt some vehicles and attacked locals by the picketers. Obituary: Mithila Ranjan Roychoudhury

Mithila Ranjan Roychoudhury (Mantu) passed away at his residence at Isswapur Hati, Barpeta on April 14 at about 8 o' clock. The people of Barpeta mourned at the sudden death of Roychoudhury who was the most amiable and polite person of the locality. He was the Fishery Officer (I/C) of Dhubri district. Barpeta district administration is ready for the 2nd phase of Assam assembly Election 2011. All the arrangements are ready for the poll.
