Smile Programme at Tezpur
To sensitize young people on various social issues and developing social change maker in the long term, Students Mobilization Initiatives for Learning through Exposure (SMILE) under Indo Global Social Service Society had organised a three day residential programme at Pastoral House in Tezpur. The three days participatory programme which began on 28th was concluded on 30th July. The residential youth programme was attended by youths from Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Udalguri district of Assam. Speaking on the occasion as resource person Ms Maitrrayee spoke on goal setting and gender issues while the importance of self employment and entrepreneurship development was delivered by Mr. Lebanus Minz. Ranjan K Baruah, Chief Convener of Youth Alliance for Climate spoke on ‘Role of Youth for combating Climate Change’. He made presentation on basic concept of climate change and showed documentaries related to climate change and global warming. Participants designed their model village and committed to work for a better society. The programme was coordinated by SMILE coordinator of Tezpur, Sushil Peter Lakra and Sikha Basumatary. SMILE youth programme has been able to create many developmental professionals in the north eastern region of the country.
