Assam boy selected for International Tinkle Award
Barnadhya Hazarika, a 7th standard student of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Guwahati has been selected for the Tinkle Online Editor’s Choice Awards’. He is placed in 1st position for his write up, namely, ‘The Beauty of Nature’, which is declared in the July (2009) edition of ‘Tinkle’, an international monthly for children, published by the ‘Amar Chitra Katha Pvt. The Assam government has urged the Centre to support the cold-chain development project in Assam for the benefit of farmers and consumers. Union Tourism Secretary Pervez Dewan has asked the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to remove a line in the class 10 geography textbooks that tells that tourism has not been encouraged in the north-east and interior parts of the Himalayas for “strategic reasons”.
