Kalaigaon students perform better in HS final

People have expressed satisfaction at the better performance of the students of JNV ( Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya ),Kalaigaon and Kalaigaon Junior college in the recently published HSS and CBSE results. Although situated in the backward Udalguri district, students of a few educational institutions have performed better than previous years. The students of Kalaigaon Junior college have topped the table ( in the district ) with 88 percent success. Out of total 157 students appeared in the HSS (Arts )examination 138 have passed including 9 in first division with letter marks in various subjects. According to Arabinda Das,principal,Kalaigaon Junior college, the results had been satisfactory in the sense that, most of the brilliant HSLC passed students normally take admission in prestigious colleges in Guwahati or in Kalaigaon Higher Secondary school. Moreover Kalaigaon Junior college with poor infrastructure and little government financial support, had been struggling hard to provide good education to rural students.

On the other hand candidates appeared in Kalaigaon HS School centre (Kalaigaon HSS,Outala HSS and Kabirali HSS )could not produce satisfactory results as pass percentage has been 66.8 percent only. Students of Tangla College centre too performed well in the HSS examination with 40 students securing first division. The most encouraging factor had been the good performance of Madhurya Kashyap ,a resident of Tangla, who had secured 10th position in HSS (sc) from Cotton college,Guwahati.Another student Anindita Deka, daughter of Suren Deka of Kalaigaon passed the HSS (sc) examination with star marks (79%) from Sankar Academy,Guwahati with letter marks in English, physics and biology. Another girl Dorothy Das,daughter of Bikash Kumar Das of Kalaigaon passed the CBSE 1oth examination from NAL school, Bangalore securing 80.2 percent marks with letters in three subjects.

Students of JNV (Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalaya ) Kalaigaon also performed well in the recently declared CBSE 12th standard examination. According to Madhab Sarmah,principal,JNV,Kalaigaon,65 students out of 72 passed the CBSE final examination with 90.2 percent success. The principal also said that 6 students had secured more than 80 percent marks and 41 students out of 72 could secure more than 60 percent marks.
