Nabajit Das, Lecturer in Zoology, B.H.college, Howly participated in the 10th students' conference on conservation sciences held in Cambridge University on March 24 to 26 and presented a paper on "Bengal Slowlories", the only nocturnal primate species of North-East India. He also successfully completed a one month internship programme at Oxford Brookes University,Oxford from March 27/09 to April 25/09.Mr. Nabajit Das is an active member of Primate Research Centre NE India and at present doing PHD on Bengal Slowlories under the guidance of Prof. P.C. Bhattacharjee, Dept of zoology, Guwahati University.He is the eldest son of Ghanasyam Das and Bhagya Das of Palangdihati, Barpeta .

On the eve of 15 August, Barpeta anchalik AASU remembered the martyrs of Assam movement with the lightening of the lamp of 855 earthen lamps at Barpeta Panch-Ali Chowk on Sunday. A dead body of a girl servant namely Krishna Medhi was recovered in a pond at Gandhi Nagar area at Barpeta town on Sunday night. According to report, Krishna Medhi was the servant at one Dwijen Das residence, workers of LIC, Barpeta branch of Barpeta Gandhinagar.
