Sivasagar Bandh Almost Peaceful

sibsagar_121525960.jpgNormal life was affected in Sivasagar district bandh on Monday with the Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA) calling an 12-hour Sivasagar Bandh from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to protest killing of an innocent youth in Tingalibam Tea Estate by the army.The army has ordered a court of inquiry into the matter. During the bandh the roads wore deserted look with public and private vehicles off the roads. Traders kept their shutters down, while all business establishments, educational institutions, financial institutions remained closed and attendances in government offices were thin. The bandh passed off peacefully and there was no report any major untoward incident from anywhere in the district only 6 picketeers were arrested by police in Gelaki during the
bandh.
