Assam Governor Shiv Charan Mathur says the militant outfits harboured by the external forces are mongering trouble in Assam. Unfurling the national tricolour at the Latasheel Playground on Monday morning Mathur said its time to firmly deal with the these elements.
He said the peace process initiated by the government has started paying handsome dividends and that 648 misguided youths have come back to the national mainstream.
According to Mathur, his government is in the process of strengthening the police force to give more teeth to the anti-insurgency drive across the state.
Citing the progress in the implementation of the Assam Accord, the governor said the process of updating the national register of citizens is underway and works are on to complete the Indo-Bangla border fencing. He hoped that these will stop further infiltration from across the border.
