Shillong: In a significant step towards promoting scientific education in the region, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya recently hosted specialized biology classes and career guidance sessions for its Class XII students. The initiative was part of the Vigyan Jyoti Program Phase-V, spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, an Associate Professor from NEHU's Biomedical Engineering Department, conducted the interactive sessions, covering a wide range of biology topics and exploring various career avenues, including entrepreneurship. The program aimed to ignite the passion for science among students, especially girls, and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for future endeavors.

The two-day program, held on 28th and 29th July, was coordinated by Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary, PGT (Physics) at the school. Principal Dr. Neelam Sharma expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its role in creating a conducive learning environment and fostering scientific curiosity among students.

The Vigyan Jyoti Program, with NEHU as the Knowledge Partner, seeks to bridge the gap in science education in rural areas by providing students with exposure to advanced concepts and practical learning experiences. The program's success in Mawphlang highlights its potential to empower young minds and contribute to the nation's scientific progress.
