NEHU's Department of Biomedical Engineering hosting DST-Sponsored STUTI Workshop

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at North Eastern Hill University in Shillong is hosting a week-long Department of Science and Technology (DST) Delhi-sponsored Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (STUTI) from 6th to 12th February, 2023. The event is being organized in collaboration with Jamia Hamdard University, Delhi, Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility (SAIF), NEHU, and the Society for Neurochemistry India (SNCI), India, with the theme "Innovations in Healthcare Technologies".

The workshop aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of recent advancements in healthcare technology development and the process of translating research from the lab to the market. The workshop will feature open scientific discussions with experts from academia, research organizations, and industry, hands-on laboratory training sessions, and direct interactions with industry experts.

The workshop was inaugurated by top officials including the Vice Chancellor I/c of NEHU, Prof. D.K. Nayak, and Prof. B. Panda, Honorary Director of NERC-ICSSR, NEHU, among others. In his opening remarks, Prof. Iftekhar Hussain emphasized the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the development of smart and low-cost medical devices in healthcare.

Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Coordinator of the DST STUTI program, thanked all those involved in organizing the event and urged participants to make full use of the opportunity to enhance their skills. The week-long workshop is expected to provide a platform for the development of new research dimensions and long-term solutions for society's diverse needs.
