Hailakandi: For sexually abusing a minor boy, court sentences a man to 10 years imprisonment.

A special Court  in Hailakandi has sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a imposed a penalty of Rs 20000 to a man for sexually abusing an 11 year old minor boy. 

The convict will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of six more months if he fails to pay the penalty, mentions Sanjay Hazarika who gave the judgement order.


 The Convicted, Piyar Uddin Laskar ,was known to be booked under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code( IPC) and the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences (POSCO).

Piyar sexually abused the minor boy in the Lala Rural College campus in the Hailakandi district 
On June 5, 2018.

As soon as the parents encountered the matter, an FIR was lodged by the boy's father at Lala Police Station against Piyar.

The child was then sent for medical examination. Later Police investigated the same, and nabbed him.The Chargesheet was later submitted in the court on June 30, 2018.

The Order Copy read as,"......the convict Piyar Uddin Laskar is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 10 years for the offence charged under Section 377 of IPC. He is also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life along with a fine of Rs 20,000 for the offence charged under Section 4 of the POCSO Act, 2012, in default of payment of fine, he shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months.”
