Sikkim's Sixteen-year-old Sahara Hangma Subba wins Miss Teen India

Sahara Hangma Subba, a sixteen-year-old teenager from Sombarey, West Sikkim, won the Miss India Teen beauty peagent held at Noida near NCR Delhi on Monday.

She also bagged  subtitles for Miss Teen India Congeniality. Sixteen teens from different states of India participated in the beauty pageant which is held annually.
Subba is the reigning Miss Teen India Sikkim 2022, organised by Sikkim Glamour World. She also won Best Ramp-walk subtitle for Miss Teen Sikkim.

She is pursuing her class 12th from Soreng Government Senior Secondary School.
Similarly, another Teen India Sikkim 2022 winner, Jasmine Lama, won the Miss Teen India Unique Talent subtitle in the same competition.

In a glittering ceremony at the Flying Dutchman, Noida, Sahara Hangma Subba from Sikkim was crowned Miss Teen India 2022. Sahara is the first North East Indian beauty to win a national teen pageant title in India.

A village girl from Sombarey in West Sikkim, speaking to this correspondent, said: 'Miss Teen India 2022 was a bigger learning and broader exploration experience  with an ocean of opportunities than Miss Teen Sikkim. Where i was born didn't define me but what I achieved and dedicated to my birthplace will be my identity so I dedicated my Miss India Teen 2020 to my birthplace and my beautiful state of Sikkim.'

She vocally spoke of the need to eradicate gender discrimination from the society in which she faced being raised without a son in her family.  Subba has been equally vocal against social racial and gender profiling. The teen beauty sensation quoted George Bernard Showline's 'Life and Learning is an Undening Process' when asked about whether she is planning for Femina Miss India in the future. The senior secondary school student Sahara Hangma Subba is good in academics and extra curricular activities too.

The main winners were crowned by outgoing teen title holders Mannat Kaur (Teen Universe Asia 2020) and Anjani Sharma (Teen India Runner Up 2020).

Jasmeet Kaur, CEO of Teen India and National Director of India for many prestigious international pageants, led a spectacular event along with her daughter Srishti Kaur, who is India and Asia’s first Teen Universe winner.

The 3 day event involved the contestants enjoying an array of 22 sub-contests, group dynamics, photoshoots, charity events, online and on-ground sessions. The contestants interacted with students of the charity school "Apna Ghar," a venture by Srishti Kaur. The girls stood up together in their sisterhood for Cancer Awareness by creating skits and awareness jingles. Melvyn Noronha, pageant mentor of Srishti Kaur and many other international beauty queens, directed and choreographed the girls towards a great learning and self-discovery experience.

“My goal is to give the best platform for teenage girls in the country, which is safe and enriching”, said Jasmeet Kaur; as she looks forward each year to continuing her successful venture in taking young girls towards becoming the pride of India.
