Golden Pagoda inaugurated in Margherita

The two-day inauguration of the "Golden Pagoda" or "Stupa" in Buddhism, which is a holy place for Buddhist Community people all over the world, was completed on Sunday at Phaneng Buddha Vihar, Jagun Gaon Panchayat, Margherita.

Kungmu Kham (Golden Pagoda) was inaugurated in memory of the Late Aai Kham Mown Chakhap, son of Chow Ngi Chaikyo Chakhap and Nang E Than Pomung Chakhap, a distinguished Tai Phakey family from the Margherita region. On the first day, the programme begins with the hoisting of the Buddhist flag by Gyanopal Mahathera, president of Assam Bouddha Mahasabha and head monk at Buddha Vihar, Naharkatiya. This was followed by Hap Poi Khamsum Thomtra, Tangthi on Kongmukham (Temple), Procession of Idols and Kalpatru. After Kongmu Kham was inaugurated in presence of Buddhist monks and large number of Buddhist devotees who came from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Namsai and Karbi Anglong.

Gyanopal Mahathera said that Phaneng Buddha Vihar is located in Assam Arunachal Pradesh, which is a center of pilgrimage attraction. This place is inhabited with the Tai Phakey Community, which is unique all over Assam and North Eastern States. I appeal to Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to develop Phaneng Buddha Vihar so that tourism can be boosted up.

Chow Ngi Chaikyo Chakhap and E Than Pomung Chakhap said our son Aai Kham Mown Chakhap built a Kongmu Kham (Golden Pagoda) at Phaneng Buddha Vihar in 2018. He built it in memory of our son.

On the second day the programme concluded with Tang Anekeja (Consecration Ceremony) and Homage to the Triple gems, Taking precepts and Dana Talk Khamsun Thomtra. The illumination of candles at Phaneng Buddha Vihar made the sanctity more attractive.

MARGHERITA: Armed men keep moving along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh unleashing terror among the people these days. Security forces nabbed the linkman of a rebel outfit during the stepped up operation in Margherita on Sunday. Identified as Nongbu Singhpo, the was caught from the Shyam Talkies hall in the town who is a resident of Wagon 1 District Changlang Arunachal Pradesh. MARGHERITA: The Margherita Police on Saturday arrested four youths after the All Assam Schedule Caste Youth Federation Central Committee leaders tried to blackmail a local SBI employee. Identified as Jayanto Das(38) Ripu Das(32),Bolendra Das(37) and Pabitra Das, they allegedly demanded ₹7 lakh from the bank employee charging him of possessing a fake caste certificate, an allegation which the banker denied. The bank employee then lodged a formal complaint before the police who arrested the youths. MARGHRITA: Despite a stepped up counter insurgency operation rebels keep moving to monger troubles along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border these days.  Security forces claimed to have captured two NSCN-R rebels in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday and seized some incriminating materials from their possession.   According to information, identified as Jongsham Chena and Chedang Chena, the biker duo were apprehended near New Longtoi bridge by 14 Assam Rifles jawans early in the morning. MARGHERITA: The Asom Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha affiliated to CPI(ML) Panitola Circle Committee on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Tinsukia District Deputy Commissioner to increase the daily wages of tea workers to Rs 350. MARGHERITA: An unclaimed body strikes no less sensation in Margherita after it was recovered on Wednesday. The unidentified body of a youth, who was believed to have been murdered, was spotted at Tiniali on the National Highway 38. The possibility of suicide is also not ruled out since the body bore no marks of injury. After registering a case bearing No 1/2018, the police have sent the body for post mortem.
