Agartala: Tripura government has decided to impose total lockdown in the state with effect from July 27 as COVID19 positive cases continue to rise in the state. Also, the Tripura state government would start conducting a door-to-door survey throughout the state from Monday to detect Covid-19 cases. The lockdown, to be started from 5 am on July 27 (Monday), will continue till July 30.

The home antigen test will be started on Monday. The Anganwari & ANM workers, who will be involved in the process, will be given an extra Rs 1,000, the chief minister said.

The chief minister hoped the people of Tripura will respond well to the lockdown like the previous lockdowns imposed in the state. The chief minister appealed to the people of the state to abide by the lockdown norms.

Tripura's new chief minister, Manik Saha, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, won the assembly by-election from the town's Bardowali constituency. Manik Saha won by 16,870 votes and defeated Congress candidate Ashish Kumar Saha's 10,930 votes. Saha won the election in the town's Bardowali assembly seat by 6,104 votes against his nearest rival Asish Kumar Saha of Congress. Manik saha appointed new Tripura CM

After Biplab Deb stepped down as Tripura chief minister on Saturday, Manik Saha was appointed to the post after a meeting of the legislative party. Saha is currently the Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura and is the president of the state's BJP unit. He's a dentist by profession.

BJP leaders join Congress in Tripura

Tripura former health minister and BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman and MLA Ashish Kumar Saha joined Congress on Tuesday after meeting Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Delhi. Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha resigned from BJP and their MLA posts in the Tripura Assembly on Monday. On January 29, those 2 MLAs had expressed their concern, saying people of the state were being suffocated and were not able to breathe in the present political atmosphere of the state. Tripura municipal election 2021 - BJP wins 217 seats

The Tripura State Election Commission has announced the election of 20 urban local bodies, including Agartala Municipal Corporation in all eight districts in the Tripura  state on November 25 ,2021. Agartala: Chief Justice of Tripura High Court Akil Kureshi administered the oath of office to 84-year-old Satyadev Narayan Arya as 19th Governor of Tripura on Wednesday. Tripura assembly passes 10 bills without debate

Agartala: A one-day monsoon session of Tripura Assembly on Monday passed 10 bills without any option for discussion. The bills include the industrial disputes and salaries, allowances and pension benefits of the ministers and legislators.
