Inferno guts six houses

TANGLA: A  devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.

Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of  six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs  to the ground  within minutes.

The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

"We lost all our belongings including educational certificates of my daughter"said Sankar Basfor.

According to sources, properties worth around thirty lakhs was destroyed in the fire.

"The fire tenders from Tangla and Khoirabari doused the fire within minutes or else the devastation would have been massive."said Vice Chairman of Tangla Municipal Board,Sankar Sarkar . Tangla Municipal Board also distributed ration and clothes to the victim families. Paneri MLA ,Kamali Basumatari also visited the families and assured of financial assistance.

However no was  injured in the incident.

Biker crushed to death in Tangla

A biker died when a speeding dumper rammed into the two wheeler on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road on Sunday. The accident took place near a petrol pump under Tangla police station in Udalguri where the deceased was identified as Jayman Kujur alias Ekka of Bamunjuli village in Dimakuchi. SSB distributes furniture and computer to schools

In an effort to uplift the border populace 37 Battalion SSB deployed at Indo-Bhutan Border distributed furniture and computers to three different schools. SSB also gave a face lift to these schools by renovating the existing infrastructure by construction of brick wall and flooring. Hundreds  of devotees offered prayers to the setting sun on the bank of rivers and other water bodies of the town on the occasion of Chhath Puja on Thursday evening and Friday morning . Cyclist run over by truck

A cyclist was run over by a speeding stone carrying dumper (AS 27 C 1972)on Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road near Garuajhar under Panery PS in Udalguri district on Tuesday morning.The deceased was identified as Tafazul Haque(12). Traffickers nabbed, minor rescued in Tangla

Security forces in Tangla busted a human trafficking racket as they caught three people on Wednesday.  Acting on a tip off troops of 37 Bn SSB Mangaldai deployed a group of jawans at BOP in Nonaikhuti along the Indo-Bhutan border village of Udalguri.  With the help of local AASAA activists, the security forces apprehended the three persons who were to leave the place with a minor girl near Tangla railway station on  evening. Cleanliness drive on 'Swacha Bharat Abhiyan'

Acleanliness drive was organized by Mula-Gabharu and Chamuapara-Balipara Jagrata Womens' Village Organisation (VO) at Chamuapara village on the outskirts of Tangla town on Sunday. Kathina Cibara Danotsav at Anadhuwa Buddha Vihar

Like every year, the Kathina Cibara Dana was celebrated at Anadhuwa Buddha Vihar Temple near Panery of Udalguri with a two day long programme on Saturday and Sunday. NDFB(S) cadres nabbed

In a major achievement,Udalguri police and Army in a joint operation nabbed two hardcore NDFB(S) cadres from Mazbat area of Udalguri on Friday. The duo are prime accused in the 2014 Adivasi killings in Sonitpur district. The apprehended have been identified as Jahan Mochshary @ Jiskel Mochsahary (30) and Jourwn Daimari(30) . Jahan is a 35th batch NDFB cadre and reportedly in most wanted list of by National Investigation Agency vide case RC-04/2014/NIA-GUW. The police are interrogating the rebels at Udalguri PS.
