Cong organises mass rally against terrorism in Golaghat

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee organized a mass rally in Golaghat against terrorism. The rally was presided over by Debeswar Bora, Chairman Agricultural Marketing Board. Addressing a crowd of around ten thousand people Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi said that some particular regional party is using the recent serial bomb blast issue as propaganda against the ruling party for political gain. He also accused the regional party of not having any genuine concern for the blast victims but merely wants to gain power. The forest minister of Assam, Rokybul Hussain that terrorism has no religion of its own. He urged the people of Assam to stand united against any form of terrorism. Without mentioning any names he also cautioned the neighboring countries accused of harboring terrorism that they will not be successful in their evil motives. Speaking on the occasion Ajanta Neog, Minister of PWD, said that she herself was a victim of terrorism, as her husband Late Nagen Neog, was killed by the cadres of ULFA. She also added that starting from Mahatma Gandhi to the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, Congress is the worst sufferer of terrorism.

It is worth mentioning here that though the rally was held to condemn terrorism but gradually the tone of the meeting changed towards politics and later it turned out to be a political gimmick for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

Bhubaneswar Kalita, President APCC, Deep Gogoi MP, Deba Prosad Bora Press Adviser to CM were also present in the rally.
