Major explosion at BVFCL plant
NAMRUP: A major blast rocked two ammonia plants of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) at the Namrup Fertilizer Complex located in Namrup on Monday. As per initial reports, the blast occurred inside a synthesis gas compressor main outlet line which is connecting to reactor of the preheater furnance located at two ammonia plants at 3.00 am . Machines which were placed near the gas pipe were completely destroyed.
The sound of the blast heard at a radius of more than 30 kilometres. No casualties have been reported so far.
The Namrup Fertilizer Complex was renamed as Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited after bi-furcation from Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited from April 1, 2002.
Dibrugarh district Student Union (DDSU) assistant general secretary Abani Kumar Gogoi said there is a conspiracy behind this explosion and the executives of this company also know that they have take immediate precautions for this unit.
Whereas on 19th September 2019 Central Minister of Chemical and Fertilizer DV Sadananda Gowda assures that the workhold for 4th unit will start within 3 months whereas in that day Union Minister in MoFPI Rameshwar Teli also present . Director of Finance of BVFCL Sanjai Maheswari said that ," As this company is running in total loss last year also and after this incident on the starting of the year have shown the result of the whole year ."

Namrup: Army DAO Division apprehended a NSCN (K) cadre at Namtola in Dibrugarh district on Saturday night. The cadre is identified as Sgt Maj Akhat Konyak of NSCN (K) of Mon district of Nagaland. Army seized extortion notes, mobile phone along with incriminating document. After interrogation, it is revealed that he has been actively involved in the extortion activities in Mon district of Nagaland. The cadre was later on handed over to Sonari police.

NAMRUP: The Namtola Police and Sonari Army Camp under DAO Division in a joint operation apprehended one ULFA (I) Linkman from Namtola area on Friday. Acting on a tip-off the security forces carried out an opeartion and swooped on one Romen Borgohain(34) son of Tarun Borgohain a resident of Hathi Camp under Namtola police station in Charaideo district. Nine live rounds of ammunition of 7.65mm calibre and 11gm Brown sugar were also recovered from the possession of the ultra. NAMRUP: The heavy rainfall and the increase in the water level of river at Namrup in Dibrugarh district has posed serious threat to the local residents in the area. The continous downpour has gripped the whole region of Namrup in flood and with that the water level has also risen in Namrup Dilli River.
