BJP’s morale still high after poll debacle: claims Ch Bijoy

IMPHAL: The Manipur Pradesh BJP on Friday mocked the opposition Congress party, saying the party is happy that the state unit of the grand old party has taken some ‘no longer useful’ veteran politicians into their fold from the saffron party.

“The Manipur PCC is seen to have celebrated the BJP’s recent poll debacle in the three states rather than celebrating its victory,” state BJP spokesperson Ch Bijoy told a press meet at the party’s temporary office, Canchipur.

“We can sense the negativity in MPCC,” he said. The poll debacle does not have any impact on the BJP’s morale which is still high, he claimed.

Bijoy taunted the Congress and said the Northeast is now ‘Congress mukt’ since there is no more Congress-ruled state in the region.

He teased the Manipur PCC and said there have not been celebrations from the Congress for a long time and the BJP is pleased to witness their ‘momentary celebrations.’

Bijoy was also sarcastic about the recent joining of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) by some veteran politicians from the state BJP and claimed that his party is happy that such ‘no longer useful politicians’ have been taken into the fold of Congress.

The state BJP spokesperson further ridiculed the Congress, saying there would be no time for the party  to celebrate victory any more as it has already predicted its defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Bijoy also chided the CPI over the alleged celebration by the party after the BJP was defeated in the assembly polls in three states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

In the meantime, state BJP general secretary N Nimbus announced during the press meet that T Paokhalien has been appointed as chairman of Churachandpur Autonomous District Council (ADC).

With this, Nimbus said, the state unit of BJP has taken hold of altogether six ADCs across the state.

Party vice president S Joy, and Mahila Morcha president Inaocha were present during the press meet.
