In a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in
athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

The people of the Muslim community took part in special prayers at Tangla Bara Masjid and Banseria Masjid on Monday to mark the celebrations of Eid Milad Un-Nabi. Amidst allegations of trading meats of wild animals and birds at Puthimari weekly market near Kalaigaon of Udalguri district and recent airing of news by a section of electronic media, a team of forest officials from the Dhansiri Forest Division and district administration raided the weekly market last Saturday. A 30-year-old forest guard was injured when a rhino attacked him in Orang National Park at about 8 am on Sunday. The guard, Kartik Dey, was on duty at Kunakata camp area with other forest personals when the full grown adult rhino all at a sudden attacked him. Dey sustained injuries on his chest.He was later taken to Mangaldai Civil Hospital were he is being treated a forest department official said. He is stated to be out of danger.
