athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

Bhergaon Atheletics Club clinched victory in the 2nd Bishnu Rabha Memorial Football Championship Trophy organized by Arunjyoti Sangha,Kacharital at the outskirts of Tangla in its play ground. All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) with NDFB (Progressive) as well as PJACBM- People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement declared the recommencement of agitation demanding urgent solution to the Bodoland issue. An agent of Fair Price Shop of Sonapani village under Panery PS of Udalguri district had to face the fierce of irate villagers when the PDS priority scheme rice meant to distributed to villagers was sold in open market. Reportedly Gokul Deka the agent of the fair price shop sold 50 kg PDS rice to one Jabla Boro whereas he was entitled for 35 kg rice. A ravaging inferno gutted at least five shops near Dimakuchi police station of Udalguri district. Fire broke out at about 11.30 pm on Friday night. The fire soon spread to a few shops located nearby. Fire-fighters had a tough time as they battled flames before finally succeeding in dousing the blaze. The reason for the blaze is suspected to be from a shop which stocked nearly 150 litres of petrol. Property worth more than ten lakhs were gutted in the flames. Reportedly the locals damaged the fire-fighting vehicles of Khoirabari fire station which allegedly arrive late. Dimakuchi police have lodged an F.I.R against three unknown miscreants for damaging the vehicle .
