All old vehicles to be converted to electric vehicles by 2020
All old petrol and diesel vehicles in the country are set to convert to all-electric vehicles by installing kits by 2020.
This was informed to the media by senior scientist Robindro Lairenlakpam from the Indian Institute of Petroleum Council of Scientific and Industrial Research at the Press Club here on Tuesday.
He said the plan would be completed by 2020 during which 60-70 lakh old vehicles are to be converted to electric-vehicles.
Robindro also informed that this plan is being taken up under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The Centre has already declared that India will sell only electric vehicles by 2030.
