Counter insurgency operation in Ledo
MARGHERITA: Security forces are fanning in search of the rebels who have been unleashing a reign of terror in Margherita along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border a week after a gang of Naga rebels attack a coal mine setting on fire five vehicles.
Army, police and paramilitary forces have stepped up combing operations in the nook and corner of the coal rich areas where the rebels are believed to have been hiding to terrorise the people with extortion.
Checking in the vehicles is being intensified on the road apprehending the movement of rebels by vehicles and two wheelers. According to sources, a group of Naga rebels keep moving from Arunachal Pradesh to Assam to extort money from the people.
The recent attack in the coal mining also took place, probably, for not refusing to pay ransom to the rebels who keep demanding money. It took place in the West Patch Tikak Colliery under NEC Coal India Limited in Margherita where vehicles belonging to Amaranth Enterprise mining private limited were set afire by the rebels.

MARGHERITA: Armed men keep moving along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh unleashing terror among the people these days. Security forces nabbed the linkman of a rebel outfit during the stepped up operation in Margherita on Sunday. Identified as Nongbu Singhpo, the was caught from the Shyam Talkies hall in the town who is a resident of Wagon 1 District Changlang Arunachal Pradesh. MARGHERITA: The Margherita Police on Saturday arrested four youths after the All Assam Schedule Caste Youth Federation Central Committee leaders tried to blackmail a local SBI employee. Identified as Jayanto Das(38) Ripu Das(32),Bolendra Das(37) and Pabitra Das, they allegedly demanded ₹7 lakh from the bank employee charging him of possessing a fake caste certificate, an allegation which the banker denied. Security forces claimed to have captured two NSCN-R rebels in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday and seized some incriminating materials from their possession. According to information, identified as Jongsham Chena and Chedang Chena, the biker duo were apprehended near New Longtoi bridge by 14 Assam Rifles jawans early in the morning. MARGHERITA: The Asom Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha affiliated to CPI(ML) Panitola Circle Committee on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Tinsukia District Deputy Commissioner to increase the daily wages of tea workers to Rs 350.
