GUWAHATI: Amid the crucial probe into the APSC scam, the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition moved by chairman Rakesh Paul who has been languishing in jail for the last several months.
A disappointed Paul and his legal team now has no option to pin hopes on the Supreme Court for respite. His lawyers, sources, say are moving the apex court challenging the ruling on Tuesday.
A division bench of the court ruled that since the probe into the nefarious cash for job scam has reached a crucial stage, the bail is not advisable for the chairman.
Paul who two months back procured bail from the Supreme Court was rearrested acting on a fresh bribery case registered against him in Bhangagarh police outpost.
Sources told Assam Times that Paul is moving the country's apex court challenging the High Court's ruling on Tuesday.

GUWAHATI:Amid growing attack on Congress over suspicious and mysterious stand on the NRC related statement on Mamata Banerjee, the opposition party on Sunday made it plain and simple that there is no question of opposing NRC. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati party president Ripun Bora and senior leader Pradyut Bordoloi said the party had been supporting an updated NRC and it would keep supporting it. DIPHU: In yet another bizarre incident that sends huge shock and anger across the state, a minor boy allegedly molested and killed a 6 year old girl in Karbi Anglong district on Friday. Police in the late evening recovered the body from a pit in Omrangsu area where the shocking incident took place.
