HOJAI: Yet another wild elephant died of electrocution in Hojai on Tuesday sending shock and anger among the nature and wild life activists across the state.
The incident took place at Hawaipur where a herd of wild elephants who came down to the human habitates in search of food was electrocuted in the wee hours.
The local residents spotted the carcass only in the morning. They further blamed it all on the power department officials alleging that these incidents could have been avoided had they hiked the heights of the posts.
They further slammed the forest department failing to control or drive away these wild elephants who have been unleashing terror among the villagers for the last couple of months.
