AKRSU factions to reunite to fight for common cause
The two factions of the All Koch Rajbongsi Students’ Union (AKRSU) have reached at a resolution for unification to the greater interest of the Koch Rajbongsi community.
Both factions of AKRSU, led by Hiteswar Barman and Pradip Ray attended a unification meet held at Shakti Ashram in Kokrajhar district on Sunday, was convened by convenors committee of the unification of AKRSU. Presidents of both factions of the AKRSU Hiteswar Barman and Pradip Ray have announced their unification decision and shared same dais on the meet in the presence of convenors’ committee and public.
Mentioned may be made that the AKRSU had a factions, first in 2003 led by
Biswajit Ray and Atul Ray. Later, both factions had been unified ending factions by June in 2012.But interestingly; the unification was not lasted long on united stability, again the AKRSU fractioned aroused on surface after six months led by Hiteswar Barman and Pradip Ray factions in the same year. Since then, both factions have been carrying their organizational works in parallel till date.
Both AKRSU leaders addressed the reporters told that they have reached on unification resolution to the greater interest of the Koch Rajbongsi community and movement would be carried out stronger to the demand of ST status to the Koch Rajbongsis and reconstruction of Kamatapur state.
The meet resolved to hold a executive meeting of the AKRSU on November 5 next to make scheduled a special session of the of the students union to form new full pledged committee. The meet adopted decision to meet the coordinator of NRC update Prateek Hajela over the demand original inhabitant (OI) status to the Koch Rajbongsi community soon and urged the government to solve the promises that put during elections.
Tarini Kanta Ray,chief convenor of the convenor’s committee told the media men that the Koch Rajbongsi community want united students union to work for the welfare of the community.
‘All organizations from the community have been emphasized unification of the AKRSU, so the convenor committee moved to both faction and today agreed to the unification to pave way community’s development and integration’, he said.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
