A three-member delegation of Sumi Hoho (SH) called on Nagaland Chief Minister, TR Zeliang at his residential office on Saturday apprising him of the urgent need for up-gradation of the oldest Polytechnic in Nagaland, Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) to a Degree College.
In hid response, the Chief Minister said he would ask the Department of Road & Bridges to repair the roads in the region as requested by SH.
Another delegation of Chang Legislators and Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) expressing the desire of the Chang Tribe to live together under one administrative umbrella, appealed that the State government include all the six Chang villages under Tuensang District administration, presently under Noklak Sub-Division.
Stating that there was no land dispute or tribal issue in regard to the issue, the delegation asserted that various tribal leaders had lend their voice to the proposed initiative which was being pursued for administrative convenience and not for any electoral purpose.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured that he would take up the matter with the concerned Department, Chang Legislators namely Kejong Chang, Minister for Horticulture and DB&GB; CM Chang, Adviser for Planning & Coordination and Toyang C. Chang, Parl. Secy. for NRE and F&ES, who were part of the delegation, expressed their full support to the Government led by Chief Minister, TR Zeliang.
On thr other hand, seeking the help of the State Government for setting-up a Guest House for the Nagas of Myanmar in Dimapur which would act as a Center of Correspondence for the Nagas of India and Myanmar, the Naga Public Organisation, Myanmar (NPO) led by its Deputy Chairman, U Nure Sosa and Deputy Secretary General, Y. Khomong sought the intervention of the Chief Minister on the matter. The Chief Minister while assuring to render all possible help said that the issue would be taken up with the State Home Department for further necessary action.
