Seminar for healthy media

Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday organised One Day Seminar on "Media and Parliamentary Reporting" at the Conference Hall, Manipur Legislative Assembly attended by media fraternity both from print and electronic.

The first time seminar in the history of Manipur Legislative Assembly organised specially for media person was divided as inaugural and technical sessions.

In the inaugural session, Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly Y. Khemchand Singh, President, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and MLA  T.N. Haokip, former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, former Minister  O. Joy Singh and Secretary, Manipur Legislative Assembly Smt. Ramani Devi graced as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.

In the technical session,  T.N. Hoakip delivered lecture on "Relation between Legislature and Media", Dr. N Pramod Singh, Associate Professor, LMS Law College on "Constitutional Provisions on the Priviledge and Parliamentary Reporting",  Radhabinod Koijam on "Parliamentary Procedures" and O. Joy Singh on "Reporting of the Proceedings of the House and Breach of Priviledge and Contempt of the House".

Two teenage boys died while another sustained injuries after they were electrocuted at Tuikot village of Churachandpur district on Tuesday. An explosion occurred near Kasturi Bridge of Thangal bazaar under Imphal Police Station in the capital city this evening, but there were no casualties. The police believed the explosion that happened around 7 pm was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The blast caused some damage to nearby Mahavir Medico Pharmacy. None was hurt in the incident. Police said they were investigating the blast. In March this year, a blast near the Kasturi Bridge injured eight persons, two of them critically. Kasturi Bridge is located along the street of busy Thangal bazaar. 
North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) held a candle-light vigil in Delhi University on Monday  in condolence for the recent incident of brutal shooting of a woman, Arambam Shanti in Moreh town of Manipur. Major social organisations in Moreh town bordering Myanmar has on Sunday called a 24-hour total blockade of Imphal-Moreh section of NH-102 beginning midnight of June 4 in protest against Saturday’s attack on Assam Rifles at H Mongjang. Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh today stated that implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Manipur will improve its finance. Former MLA Karam Thamarjit Singh passed away following a brief illness at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi on Thursday.  He was 46. His body will be brought back to Imphal Saturday. Thamarjit Karam Memmorial Committee, Keirai Assembly Youth Congress Committee and Mahila Block Committee condoled his death. He was elected from the ticket of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) from Keirao constituency in the 2002 assembly elections. He contested the 2017 Manipur assembly polls on Indian National Congress (INC) ticket, but had lost.
