Bomb hoax in Nagaon town

A bomb hoax triggered huge panic in Nagaon on Monday forcing the deployment of security to deal with the situation arising thereof.

The hoax originated from an unmanned object spotted lying at the District Court premises  in the morning. Those inside and outside the office mistaken it as bomb and allowed the panic to spread. 

Policemen came and checked the object with a metal detector. But it was a plastic object which was not explosive.

One Shobit Bora (35) called his girlfriend Binita Das (15) to meet near Hatigaon railway track around 6 PM. Nagaon Traffic Police acting on a tip off recovered a huge quantity of High Quality Manipuri Ganja in a raid at NH 36 near Oriyagaon in Nagaon on Wednesday and apprehended two persons namely Lokendra Singh, Subash Chandra both said to be resident of Imphal. Elephant calf rescued in Karbi Anglong

An elephant calf trapped between two hills, after falling from 60 feet (appx) was today rescued by villagers. The calf was trapped since last seven days and was surviving only on water. The mother elephant which also fell down died in the accident. Ironically the mother elephant herself tried to save the calf for two days before she succumb to the injuries. The calf which was trapped since last seven days was rescued by the villagers, They also offered special prayers to save the elephant calf , The calf was finally rescued and handed it over to the forest officials.

Hanuman Jayanti Celebrated in Nagaon

Hanuman Jayanti is being celebrated today across Assam. The most prominent and oldest Hanuman Jayanti celebrations are organized in Nagaon. The event is organized over a period of four days, starting today. The main highlights of the event are the tableau with theme of Hindu mythology and a huge procession scheduled tomorrow. The irony is that people have to wait for hours queuing on the roads in front of the ATMs, just to withdraw their own hard earned money.
