New Executive Body of Nagaon Press Club formed


New executive body of Nagaon Press Club was formed through elections on sunday at the Nagaon Press Club office . The past executive committee which was there since last 2.5 years gave an account of all the activites and financials of the Club for their term.


The new body was elected through voting and the names of new office bearers is as follows: Sri Kanak Hazarika – President , Sri Pragyan kalita – General Secretary ,Sri Sailan Saikia – Treasurer , Sri Palash Ranjan Das – Vice president, Sri Badiya Nath Sahni – Vice President ,Sri Siba Prasad Bora – Vice President, Sri Manav Jyoti Bora- Asst. Secretary,Sri Rabindra Sah – Asst. Secretary, Sri Usman Ahmed – Asst. Secretary, Sri Miju Borah – Office Incharge , Sri Jyoti Barkataki – Magaizne Secretary,


The executive members are : Sri Vikash Sharma , Sri Jaiprakash Singh, Sri Palash Pritam Hazarika,Sri Hemen Kr. Das,Sri Ajit Maheshwari, Sri Indramohan Bora, Sri sameer Hazarika, Sri Sunil Rai, Sri Mithu Mugda Gohain.


The Advisors to the Nagaon Press Club are : Dr. Abu Hanifa , Sri Munindra Saikia , Sri Jadav Saikia ,Sri Bolin Borah, Sri B K Bhattacharya.


The Name of General secretary Sri Pragyan kalita was proposed by Sri Vikash sharma.


The entire proceedings of the Nagaon Press club were completed in a healthy and sporty atmosphere.

The controversial Raha Toll Gate at Raha in Nagaon district has been shut down temporarily for 24 hours by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) after Nagaon district administration notified NHAI about the alleged ‘illegal’ status of the particular gate. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took part as chief guest in Mahila Samaroh held at Nagaon town on Monday. The Mahila Samaroh was organized Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission under Panchayat and Rural Development Department. The attendee of the Samaroh came from Morigaon, Hojai and Nagaon district. Sonowar handed over cheques of Rs 25,000 to 14 women Selp Help Groups each under Kanaklata Mahila Sabalikaran Asoni. A total of 9390 women SHGs from these districts will be provided this monetery support under the scheme. A bomb hoax triggered huge panic in Nagaon on Monday forcing the deployment of security to deal with the situation arising thereof. The hoax originated from an unmanned object spotted lying at the District Court premises  in the morning. Those inside and outside the office mistaken it as bomb and allowed the panic to spread.  Policemen came and checked the object with a metal detector. But it was a plastic object which was not explosive.  
Nagaon  deputy commissioner Shamsher Singh has ordered an inquiry into the breach of the embankment at Hatimura in Kaliabor resulting in the ravaging flood where thousands of people have been affected.  Additional deputy commissioner  Dulal Deb Nath will probe to ascertain reason behind the breach of the dyke. The report would further contain a slew of suggestions and recommendation to avoid these situation in future.
The flood  situation remains grim  in Nagaon district after the Brahmaputra breached an embankment  at Hatimura in Kaliabor.  .Deputy Commisioner directed the schools to remain closed for three days from Wednesday.  Talking to Assam Time over telephone,  Shamshersingh said that he along with the water resource Minister of the state Keshav Mahanta  did a survey along with officers of various concerned departments today at the embankment site.  He further said that 29 relief camps were set up in the area till yesterday and relief work is going on with the help of Army, NDRF and SDRF. The pot holed and the crumbled bridge  near Nagaon Law College, Haibargaon took the life of on Faruk as he was crossing the bridge sitting in a rickshaw, the tyre of the rickshaw fell in one of the many pot holes in the  small wooden bridge  and the rickshaw toppled and Faruk fell down from the bridge as the railing of the bridge had  already been broken  and fallen off. The bridge is one of the most important bridges of the town as lagre number of commuters specially school children and others cross it on a daily basis. The bridge has been closed after the incident.
The 67th Republic Day celebrations were organized with full pomp and grandeur at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon. The flag was hosted by Cabinet Minister Rakibul Hussian. There was a marching contingent of the District Police, School Children and Members of various groups of the society. The highlight of the parade was a tableau of the Assam Disaster Management Society, Nagaon. Tight security arrangements were made during the celebration.
A Rhino has been killed by poachers in Kaziranga National Park  and its horn has been cut off and taken away. The incident took place on Sunday when KNP security personnel found carcass of the rhino Diphalu camp in Burhapahar range and also recovered 29 bor bullet of M4 rifle.   This is the second rhino killed this year.
A Youth Parliament/Youth Conclave  on the theme of Skilled Youth, Empowered Assam was held at Dawson Higher Secondary school, Nagaon on Saturday. The conclave was participated by youth from different collages, members of Youth Clubs, members of student organizations and members of NGO’s from Karbi Anglong, Morigaon and Nagaon. The objective of the conclave is to enthuse the Sprit of patriotism and nationalism among the youths of Assam. An LPG Cylinder of domestic use got burst  on Thursday night at the house of one Ibrahim Ali. Injuring 5 persons of the family  during the blast. The injured are being treated in Nagaon Civil Hospital. The blast occurred while the houselady was cooking. People sitting at the dining table got injured. Due to the intensity of the blast the brick wall of the kitchen got damaged.
