Local residents in the greater Katribari village in Dotma are busy these days with a slew of works to chevk erosion by the river Katribari in Kokrajhar district.
Erosion has been posing s serious threat to them and they kept talking to the department urging measures to check them. But of no avail. The villagers, with their own resources come out to ensure their protection with a bamboo spur.
Firstly, each of them contributed bamboo along with other materials and then started constructing the spur on thr river bank. Not even a single government official rushed to the spit.
”Why we need to keep awaiting? Erosion has been taking place in alarming proportion. We must do these to avoid the impending danger,” said a villager.
Jyotirindra Brahma, BTC MCLA visited the erosion site and appreciated the construction work initiated by villagers to protect the erosion.
He sanctioned ₹.25, 000 financial supports to the site from his MCLA development fund and urged the BTC administration and district administration to take extensive services to protect the flood erosion site in the area.
