Kokrajhar, Dec 16: The government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) celebrated its fourth anniversary on Sunday with a grand event that highlighted the contributions of individuals and organizations toward the development of the region.
A major highlight of the event was the conferring of the Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma Cultural Award 2024 to noted Bodo folk singer and comedian actor Gunabati Basumatary, popularly known as Dangkhw Lwdw. The award, presented by the Cultural Affairs Department, Government of BTR, included a citation, an endi shawl, a memento, and a cheque worth ₹2 lakh. Gunabati Basumatary, a beloved figure in Bodo culture, has made significant contributions to preserving and promoting traditional Bodo music and art.
During the celebration, the BTR government also extended gratitude to its development partners for their dedicated efforts toward the region's progress. Several partners were felicitated, including Agastya International Foundation, Azim Premji University, Vyomika Space Academy (VSA), SELCO Foundation, THF India, CINI, CEGIS, UNICEF India, Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation, TRI, WRI India, CRISP, ARIAS Society, CSB, Shishu Sarothi, KHPT, Piramal Foundation, Janaagraha, Symbiotic Food Pvt. Ltd., KILA, Sunbird Trust, Assam Veterinary College, NAFPO, DCAC, PUM, and College of Horticulture & FSR, Nalbari.
Expressing gratitude, Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region, lauded the contributions of cultural icons like Gunabati Basumatary and the relentless efforts of development partners. He emphasized the progress achieved under the BTR government over the past four years.
"BTR is not just a region; it is a collective vision of the people," said Pramod Boro. "The dedication of cultural figures like Gunabati Basumatary and our development partners has been instrumental in fostering holistic development. As we mark this milestone, we remain committed to building a Peaceful, Smart, and Green Bodoland."
The anniversary celebration was a tribute to the shared vision of peace, harmony, and sustainable growth, reaffirming the BTR government's commitment to uplifting the region and its people.
