ULFA(I) militant gunned down in Udalguri

A self styled sergeant major of ULFA(I) was gunned down in an encounter with security forces at Nalkhamra chuburi in Sunanaipara village, Udalguri on Thursday noon. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Army and the police where the militant was gunned down in an exchange of fire with the security forces. A 9 mm pistol, six rounds of live ammunition, magazine, one hand grenade, cash amounting to Rs.6,10,370/- were recovered from the encounter site. Identified as Ramesh Bora the militant was the deputy of another hardcore ULFA(I) militant Rajan Deka.

UDALGURI: The Udalguri police led by DSP(Hq), Moidul Islam and assisted by Udalguri O.C, Narayan Patangia apprehended one Basanta Rabha from Sastrapara area under Harisinga P.S in Udalguri on Friday.The accused is allegedly involved in a broad daylight robbery of seven lakhs from two oil depot workers near Ambagaon of Harisinga on July 24 last.According to the workers they were accosted by a group of two men who snatched the bag containing the money.Though the workers chased the robbers they fled the scene. UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

TANGLA: The Tangla Police,solving the kidnapping case of a minor girl who was missing since June 27 last,apprehended four persons and rescued the minor girl on Sunday.
